Music - Background

Description

Background Music lets you listen to the Music On Hold music source through the speaker of your telephone.

NOTE: Beginning in Release 8.0, 53xx IP Phones must have a Music feature key programmed to use this feature.

Conditions and Feature Interactions

• Background Music is only available on some phones; see Feature Availability below for more information.

• Background Music is temporarily turned off when:

• a call is originated

• a call is recalled from key hold

• an incoming call is received and the set is programmed to ring

• an incoming call, Direct Page or Group Page is received

• maintenance tests are run on the set.

• Background Music is delivered to the handsfree interface of the set. This interface requires a minimum threshold to ensure that the receiver is active. If the music at a set is erratic, the sound source should be adjusted upwards to ensure that the minimum signal threshold is maintained.

• Background Music does not apply to Symbol Wireless or SpectraLink Wireless phones.

• Background Music from an externally connected source, such as a radio, consumes a single E2T channel for every extension listening to the source. Take this into account when assigning access to the feature as overusing it may result in call blocking due to insufficient E2T channels. NOTE: None of the server-basedMiVoice Business for Industry Standard Server, MiVoice Business Virtual MiVoice Business platforms have external music sources.

To turn Background Music on and off when the set is idle:

• Press the Music softkey or the programmed Music key.

5020 IP Phone, 5220 IP Phone and 5220 IP Phone (Dual Mode), 5224 IP Phone, and Navigator

To turn Background Music on or off when the set is idle:

1. Press SuperKey.

2. Press No until "Music?" appears.

3. Do one of the following:
